What are some things to think about whenever looking at pet health insurance? Here are some questions to ponder:
- How soon will insurance go into effect? Some plans require a waiting period to allow for pet health histories and other processing.
- Is there a multiple pet discount? Most plans offer about a 10% discount for more than one pet.
- Is a microchip necessary? If your beloved pet gets out of the home and disappears these can help. Some pet insurance companies offer discounts for having this done.
- Is there an age cutoff for pet health insurance? This varies from state to state with ages between five and eight being cutoffs.
- What about pre-existing conditions? Most pet health insurance plans have pre-existing condition clauses. They usually require pet health reports.
It may be very good idea to check pet health insurance and get some quotes. The sooner the better.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you and great blog post! I think every pet owner should at least look into pet insurance and see if it right for them. I just enrolled not too long ago with Trupanion for pet insurance. They have been really helpful thus far and cover 90% of our vet bills..and as many of us pet owners know, they can be quite pricey. www.trupanionpetinsurance.com
